I’ve been able to taste my first yellow-podded mange-tout peas (from the Real Seed Catalogue) and I haven’t been disappointed. They taste as sweet as their name suggests and their colour makes them easy to find..! Definitely a keeper… 🙂 They are easy to save as peas usually self-pollinate and you only need 5-10 plants to maintain a variety. Seeds kept in a cool and dry place should keep for 3-4 years.
That’s the honesty going to seed nicely. I’ve sowed seeds in a more sheltered spot this year and can observe the different stages, from flower to pod, from green to purple… Even more lovely when you’re sitting next to it cuppa in hand!
I love when veggies go to seed… They produce masses of flowers for weeks and bees love them! Those bright yellow flowers are from the “seven hills” Brussel sprouts. I love gardening next to them, listening to the happy buzzing crowd. There should be plenty of seeds for the SSL!
